The current Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), one of the leading universities in the field of technical education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was re-established in Baku in November 1950 under the name Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (AzPI) with the faculties of Mechanics, Construction, Railway and Hydromelioration.
In 1950-1955, the faculties of the institute operated in buildings located at different addresses. Since 1955, the institute has been moved to the current building, covering all faculties
